A Course in Miracles - An eBook Review

A Course In Miracles, published in 1976, is a profound spiritual teaching that provides far-reaching and practical psychological insights. It has touched the lives of millions and influenced a growing movement of people who think of themselves as “spiritual but not religious.” It is considered to be one of the most influential spiritual books of our time. It is not a religion; it is an ecumenical course in universal love, and its curriculum focuses on forgiveness as the key to awakening from an illusory world.

Described as a "esoteric bible that went mainstream," ACIM is a self-study spiritual thought system that contains the Text, which lays out its concepts; the Workbook for Students, comprised of 365 daily lessons that emphasize experiential learning over belief in a theology; and the Manual for Teachers, which offers answers to questions commonly asked by students. It is a nondenominational, unified spiritual teaching that clearly states that it is only one of thousands of paths that lead to the same experience of God.

Its archaic religious language, however, can make the book seem challenging to read at first glance. By providing definitions for each of the terms, this eBook helps to clear up any misunderstanding and makes it easier to understand the text and its message. It also explains the history of these terms and how they have evolved over the centuries. It also includes dictionary definitions for many of the religious phrases and words used in the course.

This is a very comprehensive and detailed discussion of ACIM's teachings, principles, and goals. It covers the many aspects of this spiritual teaching that are not readily understood, including its teaching on universal love, forgiveness as the key to awakening, and living in an illusory world. It also discusses how the workbook can be used as a tool to help heal relationships.

The eBook includes the unabridged text of A course in miracles as it was completed by Helen Schucman and Bill Thetford in 1972. It has not been edited in any way, other than for the purposes of clarification and consistency with capitalization and punctuation. It is a very useful reference and is an essential companion to the Audio CDs and the Manual for Teachers.

In these recordings, David Hoffmeister speaks from a clear and awakened mind about the profound teachings of A Course in Miracles. He guides the sincere student through one section of the Text and a lesson from the Workbook each day, with a deep commentary. These are powerful and moving teachings, and are a wonderful way to begin your ACIM journey!
